Some and Any

When dealing with an indefinite amount or number of things, we can make use of “some” or “any.”

Here are some examples:

  • Can I get some chocolate and some vanilla?
  • Do you have any cake left?
  • James doesn’t like any flavor of cake.
  • Mary likes some flavors of cake.
  • I love any genre of music.
  • She hasn’t had any cake in a while.
  • Can I get some lattes?

The difference between “some” and “any” is that the former is used to describe a limited amount or number, whereas the latter is an unlimited amount or number.
