Whose and Who’s

Now, you should already know that “who’s” is a contraction of “who is.” However, “whose” is a new word in this course and has yet to be explained. “Whose” is a pronoun, a possessive pronoun of “who.” It is used to indicate possession or ownership in a sentence.

Below are different usages of the pronoun “who’s”:

  • Who’s singing?
  • Who’s cooking in the kitchen?
  • Who’s in the lobby?
  • Whose book is this?
  • Whose car is that?
  • Whose bananas are these?
