Article – A, An, and The

In grammar, an article is any dedicated word combined with nouns to produce noun phrases. We identified “a” and “an” in the preceding section, with “the” completing the list.

In grammar, we have two articles: the definite and the indefinite. A definite article is used to define a specific thing or group, or something already identified. On the other hand, an indefinite article implies that the noun referred to is non-specific. The definite article is “the,” while “a” and “an” are indefinite articles.

We already gave some examples of how “a” and “an” are used in sentences, but we will provide more examples, including how “the” is used as an article.

  • I will be eating an egg for breakfast.
