Conjunctions

Conjunctions are joiners. These are used to join parts of a sentence in order to communicate complex sentences in a clear and meaningful way. It can be used to link words, phrases, or clauses to form a meaningful sentence. The purpose of conjunction is to provide more information, provide alternatives, or provide reasons in a sentence.

Some examples of conjunctions are “and,” “but,” “because,” “although,” “or,” “yet,” etc.

  • Do you want vanilla or strawberry?
  • The artist is coming to New York tomorrow, and he will be coming with his band.
  • I’d love to come visit, but my grandmother is sick.
  • I would have loved to see The Rolling Stones because they are my all-time favorite rock band.
  • He enjoys ice cream, although chocolate is not his favorite flavor.
  • She promised to come early, yet she came late.
