Possessive Adjectives

A possessive adjective modifies a noun by identifying who has possession or ownership. Possessive adjectives include: “my,” “your,” “his,” “her,” “our,” and “their.” The subject pronouns they should be used with will be mentioned below.

  • I love my new home.
  • You and your friend can sit down here.
  • He told his friend to drive slowly.
  • She asked her friend out to prom.
  • We are friends with our neighbors.
  • They asked the waiter to take their order.

In the example above, the pronoun “I” is used with the possessive adjective “my,” “you” is used alongside “your,” “he” is the subject pronoun for the possessive adjective “his,” “she” is used with the possessive adjective “her,” “we” is used with “our,” and finally, the subject pronoun “they” is used with the possessive adjective “their.”
