Comma

A comma (,)represents a short pause. Wherever you encounter a short pause when speaking or when you are about to write something down, represent the short pause with a comma.

It is a short pause and can be used when you are making a list or separating two points within a sentence joined by a conjunction such as but, and, etc.

For example:

  • I love pizza, ice cream, and pastries.
  • I would have called you, but I got busy.
