Present Continuous Tense (-ing)

In the case when an action is currently happening and may continue in the future, it can be easily communicated by adding the present participle, -ing suffix, to the present tense.

The sentences in their present tense highlighted above will be changed to reflect a continuous action by adding the suffix “-ing.”

  • I am eating.
  • He is sleeping.
  • Suzan loves dancing.
  • We are eating dinner.
  • Are you coming?

In the present continuous tense, verbs can be easily changed to show a persisting action with the addition of -ing.
