Present Tense Possession – Have and Has

In the present tense, has and have verbs are used to demonstrate possession. However, the subject in the sentence will determine which should be used between “has” and “have.”

These pronouns should be used with the verb “have”: I, you, they, and we. On the other hand, the pronouns she, he, and it should be used with “has.”

These are some great examples to consider:

  • I have a class by 9 p.m.
  • You have two books in your hand.
  • They have to visit the zoo tomorrow.
  • We have to cook tonight.
  • She has two pens.
  • It has been two days since it rained.
