Simple Present Tense

A common definition of a verb is that it describes an action. So, the simple present verb tense is used to describe an action, habits, unchanging situations, or things that are generally true. For instance:

  • I want to eat.
  • He wants to sleep.
  • Suzan loves to dance.
  • We want to eat dinner.
  • The football is round in shape.

The verbs in these sentences appear in their natural state because they are in their present form. However, what if the action is continuous? How do you say or write it? We will discuss this in the subsequent part of the course.
